Notes:
| a) | Entries in the respective indexes are reproduced as they appeared in the original journals i.e. no attempt has been made to consolidate names or replace outdated ones with current nomenclature. For example, for Androsace vandelli it is necessary to see the additional entries for the previously used names of A. argenta and A. imbricata. |
| b) | In the case of Douglasia and Vitaliana, some attempt has been made to add '(see also…..)' in those cases where the species appears under other genera. For example, under Douglasia laevigata (see also Androsace laevigata). |
| c) | In the past, some Androsaces have been included in the genera Aretia and Primula (and Vitaliana within the genus Gregoria). The few early references to the species Aretia in the AGS index have been included under Androsace in this list - the species Gregoria does not appear in either index. A single reference to Androsace umbellata using its earlier name of Primula umbellata has been included under Androsace. |
| d) | Information from early volumes of 'The Rock Garden' has been scanned from existing printed versions. Whilst every attempt has been made to eradicate any errors arising from this process, some may remain. |
